Impact matters

When a company or its foundation gives a charitable donation to a nonprofit organization, it has every right to understand how the funds will be used, what the funds will enable, and the difference that is expected for those ultimately being served – not just in the moment, but over the longer term.

Likewise, when employee engagement campaigns are developed, it’s important to understand past efforts, participation rates, and whether involvement has been growing or shrinking over time.

Organizations should be able to track and report on results over time. It matters to stakeholders, from employees and prospective employees, to regulators, policymakers, investors, and suppliers.

Tracking data and measuring progress should be part of any corporate social responsibility or citizenship program.

With a measurement program in place, short term results can be reported, and long-term impact can aggregate over time.
